What Is the Arctic Shores Assessment Test?

The Arctic Shores Assessment Test is a pre-employment psychometric exam that measures several traits important to employers, such as learning ability, problem-solving, teamwork, and cognitive processing. Unlike other aptitude tests, the Arctic Shores tests are gamified, which allows the test-taker’s capabilities to be measured more dynamically. While the Arctic Shores games may not be traditional exams, you will still need to focus during the test. Before accessing the exam, find a quiet place to set up where you are comfortable and free from distractions. After you have completed all the tasks, you will receive a profile report that details your unique psychological traits and characteristics. Data from the exam is analyzed against 34 personality and cognitive traits to give the employer a complete understanding of your cognition, drive, interpersonal style, thinking style, and personal style. The employer can then use this information to determine if you would be a good fit for the specific role and the company overall.

 

Analysis Game

The Analysis Game is the only task that is not gamified and may or may not be included in your employer’s exam. This assessment is constructed as a traditional multiple-choice test similar to a standard numerical reasoning test. The test will provide data, and you’ll have 18 minutes to answer 18 questions about the information. However, some of the questions will require complex calculations.

In addition to testing your numerical reasoning, this test also examines your ability to quickly process information and solve problems. Since you will only have a minute to answer each question, you must work quickly and accurately to do well on this test.

Balloon Game

In the Balloon Game, you’ll need to earn as much money as possible by blowing up 45 balloons and not letting them pop. You will be presented with one balloon at a time and have the option to either pump up the balloon or exchange it. Each time you pump it up, the balloon is worth more money in exchange. However, the balloon can pop at any time, in which case, you will earn nothing for that balloon.

Direction Game

The Direction Game will primarily test your ability to focus and pay attention. On your screen, you will see three rows of five arrows, each pointing in a different direction. Your job is to determine whether the center arrow is pointing left or right and click the corresponding key on your keyboard. There are 80 rounds in this game.

While this sounds easy enough, the catch is that the rest of the arrows will change shapes and directions and move more quickly as the game progresses. You will need to focus on the center arrow and press the corresponding button just in time, as pressing too soon or too late will result in an error.

Energy Game

The Energy Game presents a power generator, and you must click buttons to produce power. The game ends once a certain amount of power has been produced. However, because each generator can both create and use energy, each click has a chance of causing you to lose power instead of producing it.

Security Door Game

The Security Door Game will present a rotating code lock, and your job will be to stop the lock on the highlighted numbers to form the passcode. This task aims to assess your ability to focus and your reaction time. There will be 20 rounds of this game, each with a different rotation pattern, so you’ll need to adapt quickly to each round. If you make a mistake during the round, the lock will reset, and you must start over. Therefore, while you must work quickly on this task, accuracy is the key to success.

Team Sales Game

The Team Sales Game will test several traits, including:

  • Learning ability
  • Teamwork

In this task, you will receive a scenario where your team and a competitor have both launched the same product. You must decide how to price your team’s product, low or high. The outcome of your decision will depend on the other team’s pricing. You will have 12 rounds to try and maximize your reward.

 

Tickets Game

The Tickets Game will show two boxes with changing ticket numbers, and your goal will be to organize each ticket correctly. For example, you may need to categorize the ticket number based on whether it is odd or even. This task aims to assess your attention, focus, and cognitive processing skills. You will have 80 rounds of tickets to organize, and each round will have a time limit.

Additionally, the rules will change throughout the game and eventually disappear altogether, forcing you to figure out how to categorize each ticket correctly. You’ll need to pay attention to multiple variables and work quickly to do well on this task.

 

Tile Sequence Game

The last Arctic Shores task is the Tile Sequence Game. The Tile Sequence Game will test your memory, speed, and accuracy. The game will present a board of several tiles that light up in a specific pattern. Your job will be to replicate that sequence accurately.

It is important to note that the game is adaptive, which means the sequences will get longer and more complex as you go along with the task. Additional icons will also be introduced to distract you and make the game more challenging.
