What Is Eversource Energy’s Recruitment Process?

To apply, create an account so you can store your resume. You can also sign up to receive job alerts and updates if you are waiting for the right position to open up. You can narrow your search by city, state, and job category to make it easier to search for the perfect position.

If your application is a good fit, you will be contacted about the next steps. The next steps will very likely include assessment testing. These tests may include computer-based testing as well as field testing. Your human resources representative will keep you informed and let you know how to schedule any required testing.

If you pass the tests, the next step is an interview. The interview process will vary depending on the job you are in competition for, and the interviewer’s preferred style. Interviews for some positions may be done as a panel with a few members of leadership.

Initial employment offers are dependent upon you successfully completing a background check. Some positions also require medical checks to ensure employees are in good physical condition.

Eversource Energy’s Pre-Hire Assessments

If you are asked to take any pre-hire assessments, chances are they will be EEI tests. Eversource frequently uses tests developed by the Edison Electric Institute to make sure possible employees have the skills in place to correctly perform the duties of the job they want.

These are EEI tests commonly used by Eversource:

  • CASTThe Construction and skilled trades test examines potential field workers in four areas. The test areas are Reading For Comprehension, Graphic Arithmetic, Mechanical Concepts, and Mathematical Usage. The Test sections are timed individually, and the entire test is multiple-choice.
  • SO/PD IIThis test assesses the skills required for system operations and power dispatch. This test measures Analytical Thinking, Mathematical Usage, Reading Comprehension, and Multi-Tasking. Most of the test is multiple-choice, with the exception of Multi-Tasking, which simulates a workplace scenario.
  • TECHThe tech test is given to technicians who hold degreed positions. This test includes Reasoning From Rules, Mechanical Concepts, Interpreting Diagrams, and Graphic Problem Solving. These test sections are timed, and each one is multiple-choice.
  • CSR Customer Service Representatives will be given this test battery, which evaluates the skills needed to take customer calls and enter data correctly. There are two parts to this test battery, The Job Skills Test in which you will be tested on Basic WorkStation which focuses on data entry, Customer Order, and Bill Inquiry. The second test is the Interactive Test, in which you will complete a workplace simulation of handling a “customer” call while entering the right data to find the answers to their questions.
  • MRAB The Meter Reader Assessment Battery focuses on two areas. You will be tested on Coding and Using Tables.

How to Prepare for Eversource Energy’s Psychometric Tests?

Once you are contacted by an Eversource representative and set up a test date, use your spare time to prepare for the upcoming assessments. Finding study resources is easy. Eversource includes a link to the study guides provided by EEI, as well as to practice tests.

Take the practice tests to see which areas you feel like you need the most improvement in. Then focus on improving these areas, either through the EEI guides or through methods like flash cards to work on mathematics. It can also be helpful to use study materials you have left over from any courses you were required to take.

You can also use the practice tests to track your progress and practice working while timed. Even if you do not feel you need to, preparing ahead of time removes much of the pressure of testing. Use all the resources at your disposal to get yourself in the test-taking mindset.
