What Is Vivint?

Vivint is a subsidiary of NRG Energy with a presence in Canada and in the U.S. It is a smart home and home security company that offers security monitoring and smart home equipment. Vivint products include smart locks, cameras, smart doorbells, smart thermostats, and other equipment. Vivint is headquartered in Provo, Utah, and is the largest tech employer in the state as well as one of the largest smart home companies in the U.S.

What Is the Hiring Process at Vivint?

Online Assessments Tests

Online assessments are a series of psychometric tests. These tests are designed to determine which candidates have the skill to quickly learn the job and perform the duties. They can also give recruiters a good idea of who will transition easily into the team, and who may have the skills, but not be a good fit.

 

These are a few of the tests you may be given if your position requires testing.

  • Verbal Reasoning ExamThis test is used to show how well you understand written directions, and your ability to draw correct conclusions. You will have to read several short passages and answer follow-up true or false questions. Sometimes the questions will ask about things that were not included in the passages. You need to determine if there is enough information to draw a conclusion, or if the question can’t be answered with the available information.
  • Numerical Reasoning Exam This test shows how well you can use numbers in a realistic setting. The numbers you have to work with are provided in tables and graphs, and you need to be able to use them to solve a series of word problems. The test is multiple-choice and is usually timed.
  • Abstract Reasoning ExamYour success on this test relies on your ability to recognize patterns, and interpret the “rules” within a set of changing shapes. Instead of words or numbers, the test questions consist of a series of shapes that change following a pattern. You need to decipher the pattern to answer the multiple-choice questions.
  • Personality Job TestThe personality test helps recruiters get an idea of your work style and ability to work on a team. Depending on the format of the test you will either need to rank statements as least to most like you or pick the statement that you feel best describes you.
  • Situational Judgment Test To show how well you can handle difficult situations on the job you may be given a situational judgment test. The test is made up of realistic scenarios that you may encounter during your work day. You need to either rank responses based on the effectiveness or choose the reaction that is closest to the way you would handle the problem.

 

How to Prepare for Vivint’s Assessments?

Don’t be caught unprepared for pre-hire testing. There are ways to prepare for them that you can easily fit into your schedule. Verbal reasoning can be practiced through reading non-fiction and answering questions that you prepared beforehand about the material.
