Questions are encouraged to help you get to know the company and the team better.

Vestas’ Pre-Hire Assessments

To help with the screening process, applicants for some positions will be given personality and aptitude tests. These tests are used to quickly identify which jobseekers have the best combination of skill and personality traits to perform well in the Vestas’ environment.

  • Mathematical Reasoning Aptitude Test Many positions, whether in the factory, field, or office require a firm grasp of mathematical concepts. The difficulty of the test will vary, based on the job it was designed for. You may need to solve word problems, work with fractions, show a basic knowledge of mathematics, or work with numbers given in tables and graphs.
  • Pre-Employment Personality Career TestA personality assessment is used to help build a personality profile. It will make note of your strengths, weaknesses, and values. The personality assessment is multiple-choice, and you will need to decide if a statement describing your personality is true or false, or rank statements from most alike to least alike.
  • Cognitive Ability TestsSome positions may require a general cognitive assessment. This test is very similar to an IQ test. It focuses on areas that have been shown to be predictors of employment success. You will be tested on
    • Verbal Reasoning this is your ability to understand written information.
    • Abstract Reasoning How well you can determine patterns in a sequence of changing shapes.
    • Numerical Reasoning How well you can work with numbers, usually using information given in charts and tables.

How to Prepare for Vestas’ Assessment Tests?

One of the abilities that should definitely be an area of focus is mathematics. It is something that is frequently tested in all applicants. Practice word problems and familiarize yourself with reading graphs. Practice estimating your answers since these tests are usually timed, and you may need to make an educated guess on some questions. Reading and crosswords are beneficial both to verbal reasoning, and basic cognitive reasoning. Abstract reasoning abilities can be increased by using sudoku to help with pattern recognition or even finding apps online for practice.

The personality assessment is an area where people often assume they can “guess” the response the company wants. Doing this can actually cause an unbalanced test, and has disqualified more than one person. Instead, learn about Vestas, their values, and their vision. When you take the test, choose answers that are honest, but that reflect knowledge of how Vestas prefers to do business. This will give you the edge you are looking for.
