What Is GIC’s Hiring Process?

Application

Join the GIC talent network to apply, save your information, and receive job alerts. If you are looking for international opportunities, you can search for jobs by country as well as by title. Before you submit your CV be sure to highlight your relevant skills. Do not be afraid to share your achievements and interests so they can see how well you match the company vision.

GIC Psychometric Tests

If your application looks good, you will receive an invitation to take aptitude tests and to submit a video interview. Since critical thinking and problem-solving are necessary skills for GIC employees, one of the tests you will be asked to take is a cognitive assessment. The other is a behavioral screening. The PI Behavioral Assessment is given since a good attitude and goals compatible with the GIC mission make applicants more desirable.

PI Cognitive Assessment Test (PLI)

The Predictive Index is a multiple-choice cognitive assessment test. Cognitive assessments are given to give employers an idea of your critical thinking skills. You will have 12 minutes to answer as many questions as possible. The PI Cognitive Assessment focuses on three areas of cognitive ability.

  • Verbal Reasoning Communication skills and the ability to understand written instructions will be measured by these questions. Comparing analogies, determining synonyms and antonyms, and reading comprehension questions will all be a part of the test.
  • Abstract Reasoning These questions will focus on your spatial reasoning and logic skills. You will need to find the missing pieces of a pattern and find similarities in shapes that have been rotated or manipulated.
  • Numerical Reasoning Word problems, number sequences, and basic math equations are used in these questions to determine how well you can work with numbers.

PI Behavioral Assessment

This personality test is only two questions long. You will be given two pages of adjectives. On the first page, you will need to select the words that describe how you feel people expect you to behave. On the second page, you will need to pick the words that you feel describe you. This questionnaire helps create your work behavior profile using 4 main attributes.

  • Dominance
  • Extraversion
  • Patience
  • Formality

GIC Interviews

Your first interview will not be with a person. It will be a video interview through HireVue. You will be sent a link for the HireVue platform when you are invited to take the online tests. You will need to record yourself answering the questions, with around 2 minutes in between each question to prepare. Your next interviews will be done in person. These interviews will focus more on behavioral and situational questions.

How to Prepare for GIC Assessment?

Psychometric testing has become standard practice in hiring. To give yourself the best chance of success, use some time to prepare for the tests. Practice solving number sequences and word problems and time yourself. This will help strengthen your number skills and help you feel comfortable working under a time constraint. Increase your reading comprehension and vocabulary with crosswords and logic puzzles. Apps designed to help with cognitive function are also useful tools when preparing for psychometric tests.

Be professional and honest when taking personality tests. Do not pick only the adjectives that you feel are the most positive. Reflect on your workplace behaviors, to build an accurate profile.
