What Is Cognizant’s Recruitment Process?

The Cognizant hiring process begins with an online application. After answering a few pre-employment questions and submitting your resume, your application will enter the initial screening process. During this time, someone from Human Resources or a hiring manager will assess your fit for the role based on your application.

Cognizant’s Psychometric Tests

After passing the initial screening, you will graduate to the assessment portion of the recruitment process. Here you will take several aptitude and personality tests depending on the role you are applying for. The assessments will evaluate your reasoning skills, skill set, and job compatibility.

  • Verbal reasoning test: The verbal test will assess your ability to understand written information.
  • Numerical reasoning test: This test will assess your ability to interpret data and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Situational Judgment Test (SJT): Candidates will also take a situational judgment test. This test will present different hypothetical situations that someone in your role may encounter. You will then need to analyze the situation and note how you respond to the problem.
  • Technical aptitude test: Lastly, you will take a technical test. This exam will vary depending on the position you are applying for and will ask questions based on your technical skillset.

It is also important to note that these psychometric tests will be timed. Be sure you are fully prepared for the test and that you give yourself enough time to complete each one.

Interviews

Cognizant may ask you to do one or more interviews. You will likely complete a phone interview with a member of Human Resources and a final interview with a hiring manager. During these interviews, they will ask about your job history, professional experience, and behavioral type questions.

How to Prepare for Cognizant’s Assessment?

The best way to prepare for the Cognizant assessment is to take practice tests online. There are free sample tests that provide sample questions to practice your responses and understand the testing format. Be sure to take as many of these practice exams as possible to prepare for the assessments.

You will also want to prepare responses for your interviews. Be sure that you can answer any questions that may come up about your resume and prepare explanations and examples for any questions they may ask. Research interview tips and put some thought into your prepared answers.

Preparing for both the assessment and interview stage of your candidacy will show the company you are the right person for the job and increase your chances of getting an offer.
