What Is BART’s Recruitment Process?

  • Phone Interview: After a recruiter reviews your resume, you will complete a quick 30-minute screening interview to ensure that you are qualified for the position.
  • In-Person Interview: Eligible candidates will then come on-site for one or more interviews with hiring managers. This conversation will likely be more technical and behavior-based than the initial interview.
  • Assessments: Candidates will also need to take several psychometric tests to assess their aptitudes and cognitive abilities during the hiring process.

 

BART’s Psychometric Tests

In addition to multiple interviews, BART candidates will need to complete several online or written assessments. These tests, including aptitude and personality exams, will give the hiring team better insight into who you are, how you behave, and your cognitive abilities.

The specific exams you take will depend on the role you are seeking; however, a few tests that you may encounter during the recruitment process include:

  • Verbal Reasoning Test: This test will assess your ability to comprehend written language by giving you passages that you must read and answer questions about.
  • Abstract Reasoning Test: This exam is non-verbal and will test your critical thinking skills and ability to recognize patterns in a series of figures.
  • SJT: The situational judgment test (SJT) will examine your behavior in simulated situations. The test will present you with a hypothetical workplace scenario, and you must decide how you would respond in that situation.
  • Technical Skills Exam: Technical tests will be specific to the role you are applying for and will assess your proficiency in relevant skills. For example, you may need to take a Microsoft Excel test that will ask you to perform different calculations and functions.
  • Mathematical Test: The difficulty of the mathematical test will also depend on your role. For this test, you will need a basic understanding of mathematics and be able to perform simple operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. However, some roles may require more complex calculations.
  • Mechanical Aptitude Test: If you seek a technical position, you may need to take a mechanical aptitude test to assess your understanding of mechanical principles and concepts.
  • Pre-Hire Personality Test: Candidates can also expect to take a personality test so BART can evaluate their personality traits and behaviors to ensure they align with the company.
